Privacy Policy
Local-first by design.
Voyager is designed to provide deliberate web access without requiring a Voyager account or a ModusBios browsing-history service.
This Privacy Policy describes how Voyager, published by ModusBios, handles information in Version 1 of the app. It does not govern the privacy practices of websites you choose to visit through Voyager.
1. Summary
- No Voyager account is required for V1.
- Voyager does not operate a ModusBios server that receives your browsing history.
- Core Voyager settings are stored primarily on your device.
- Voyager V1 does not include behavioral advertising or tracking SDKs.
2. Browsing and website data
Voyager uses Apple web technologies to display websites. Websites you visit may receive information from your device and may use cookies, local storage, or other website technologies under their own privacy policies.
Focus and Scan use a shared persistent Apple WebKit website data store so ordinary website data such as cookies and local storage can persist between sessions. Voyager does not intentionally send your browsing history to a ModusBios browsing-history database.
Emergency uses a separate nonpersistent WebKit data store. Emergency website data is isolated from the persistent Focus and Scan website data and is not intended to persist as an Emergency browsing session store after the session ends.
3. Clear Focus & Scan Website Data
Voyager includes a control called Clear Focus & Scan Website Data. Using it clears the shared persistent website data used by Focus and Scan, including supported WebKit website data types. It does not delete your Focus list, commitment settings, or pending restriction state.
4. Camera
Camera access is used by Scan to recognize QR codes. QR parsing is performed locally as part of normal Scan operation. Voyager does not upload QR-scanner camera images to a ModusBios server as part of that operation.
5. Screen Time and Device Protection
If you enable Device Protection, Voyager uses Apple Screen Time capabilities, including supported Family Controls and Managed Settings technologies, to apply restrictions you choose. The system permission may describe access to activity data and the ability to restrict apps or websites. Voyager uses that access to operate Device Protection.
Device Protection is optional. You can revoke applicable Screen Time permissions through iOS settings.
6. Local settings
Voyager stores configuration such as Focus websites, Emergency limits, commitment settings, Device Protection state, and related app state primarily on your iPhone so the app can operate.
7. Subscriptions and purchases
Voyager subscriptions are purchased through Apple’s App Store using StoreKit. Apple handles payment processing, billing information, renewals, cancellations, and payment credentials.
Voyager receives information from StoreKit that is necessary to determine subscription entitlement. ModusBios does not receive your full payment-card information.
8. Support communications
If you contact support, we may receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, device model, iOS version, screenshots, attachments, and a description of the issue. Support correspondence may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.
9. Data retention and deletion
Locally stored settings remain on your device for as long as needed to operate Voyager or until they are removed through available controls or by deleting the app.
Focus and Scan website data may persist through Apple WebKit until cleared by Voyager’s website-data control, by iOS, by a website, or through other applicable system behavior. Emergency uses a separate nonpersistent website data store.
Because Voyager V1 does not maintain a Voyager cloud account or a ModusBios browsing-history database, there is generally no Voyager cloud account or server-side browsing-history record for us to delete.
10. Third-party websites and Apple services
Websites opened through Voyager are operated by third parties and may collect information under their own privacy policies. Apple also processes information when you use App Store purchases, Screen Time permissions, and other Apple platform services. Those services are governed by Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Voyager changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
